Marzim village, said to be main district
village of Bura.
|
I did not like Marzim. We came during
heavy rain and were not invited to
anyone's house :-) Well, maybe this will be the future in Bura :-( But
at that time, all other villages were more friendly.

Coming down from Rukab village. Asphalt
road goes to the pass, where Bamii (?not sure?) village sits. The
mountain in the back should be the highest mountain of Bura. But it's
face seen later from Magraba is much better.

Again after almost 2 years in the house
of our host - Abdullah, known to us from our first trip to Bura. Now I
knew some Arabic, so communication was much easier.

Invited to the local wedding near
Magraba. Traditional dancing with knives and with the pole. We knew all
this from our first visit during Eid Al Adha festival/holiday time.
|
The groom during his wedding. As women
are completely covered for any non-family males, I wondered how wifes
are chosen by males. Well, I was told a man has to rely on his female
relatives (mother, sister etc. - who can see other women unveiled of
course) to give him good recommendation for his future wife. Good luck
...

Before the qat chewing party.

During qat chewing party. The family of
the groom gives away bunches of qat and long chewing follows (we chewed
for a few hours here for the first time, but without any effect I
think). Women celebrate separately of course.

Azaan - the highest mountain as seen over
the pass (with Magraba village). Rukab village is on the top of the
ridge/mountain on the left - we came from there.

Baboon female with her small baboon.
Baboons can easily be seen around the park checkpost after lunchtime.
There are used to come for some food. Unfortunatelly, they would be
difficult to find in dense vegetation otherwise.

Baboon male.

Our friend Mohammed, brother of Abdullah
was now working at wadi Raaba checkpost (in military uniform).
