Crossing of the river to the valley
leading directly up to Atsunta pass. In our case, there was aggresive
dog guarding the hut at the other side and no shepherd present to
take care of the dog. Fortunatelly, the local border guard went with us
and kept the dog focused on him by throwing stones over the river so we
could cross some distance away.

Up to easy Atsunta pass. Here it is
necessary to find and follow the only distinct path leading over the
ridge as the lowest point on the ridge is in fact not used for crossing
it.

Up to Atsunta pass, 3431m. Note that this
group went to different pass, although this migh be correctly the
lowest point on the ridge (and is marked on Russian map). But better
path goes more to the right to some 'other pass' in reality and this is
recommended!

The old village of Shatili. Local cheap
bus goes there nowadays from Tbilisi and back, no need to rent an
expensive jeep.
